Sr. DevOps Engineer

Location: New York City, NY
Date Posted: 03-06-2017
We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to help drive our success in developing world-class optical technologies. This position will be located at our headquarters in midtown Manhattan, on Madison Avenue, with a large team of highly technical personnel – physicists, engineers, programmers, et cetera.   One of the key responsibilities for this role will be to help centralize and organize our IT infrastructure, including networking and computing resources and administration mechanisms, policies and procedures. These are key systems which will enable our R&D teams to perform at their best and for our team to excel. As this position is our first full-time IT hire, we need someone who can assess existing systems, transition services to new platforms, implement industry best-practices, generate detailed documentation, and help create a culture of operational excellence in all aspects of our IT infrastructure. Additionally, we are looking for someone who is interested in building tools to automate processes directly involved in our research, development, and operations teams.

This position will require someone who can identify what needs to be done with minimal direct supervision, then prioritize and execute. As the organization grows there will be multiple opportunities for professional growth and career development, in any of several different directions. The ideal candidate is someone who has deep experience with the relevant technology, but who is first and foremost a problem solver, a fast learner, and someone who understands how to triage and prioritize many different tasks in light of overall organizational goals, seeking guidance as needed.
